I have 2 Video Cards a GeForce 7950GT and a GeForce 7950GX2. Both Show Artifacts on the screen at all times and sometimes give a BSOD of driver display failed to reset. I replaced them with a GeForce 8800 Ultra and am wondering if there is any use for them at all? Possibly using 1 as a PhysX only card that I've read people are doing with their old cards but no one has mentioned using cards that show artifacts. Since they won't be hooking up to monitor I wondered if their power could be utilized? And while I was in there replacing the video Card I removed the PhysX card I had since windows 7 apparently no longer detects it?

Intel Core 2 Quad 3ghz qx6850

GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB
Windows 7 Home Premium

Solution
It's the gradual degrading of the data traces and silicon on the card. nothing you can really do about it. and yes, they are useless. scrape the gold off of them if you want to try and get something out of them (see youtube for instructions)

Solution
Artifacts can be sometimes be eliminated by lowering the CLOCK speed of the GPU and or MEMORY. It depends where the problem on the card is but artifacts are often related to the memory (VRAM). If the GPU was defective then the card would crash likely.

PHYSX cards:
1) They have to be NVidia, and

2) A dedicated PhysX card will actually SLOW DOWN your game if it's not fast enough. It varies between games, and even in the same game but your card generally has to be somewhere between 50% and 80% as powerful as the main card or the main card just sits waiting for the PhysX card to finish so things are worse overall than without the card.

So even if a PhysX card improved things in one game there's no guarantee a different game would also be improved.

Other:
Does a Warranty still exist for those HD7950's?

I don't think there would be a warranty. They are from 2006. Thanks for the great info.
