Hey guys, with the upcoming release of the Amd r9 295x2 , what do you think nvidias competition with the GTX 790 will be like ? Possible hybrid cooler? Sli 780's or 780 ti's?

Being that the titan Z will be prices at 3000$ while realistically being 2 titans, is it ideal to think that the 790 can still be 1000-1200$ while out performing the r9 295x? Just want to hear some opinions thanks!

First that is still way into speculation territory. But even if it does make it Nvidia has already proven they can fit two of their highest end GPU's in a single card with the Titan Z and not be forced into a hybrid cooler as the rumors show. So for Nvidia slapping two 780's or 780Ti's wouldn't be a problem.

Honestly though AMD hasn't proved to be very willing or effective at taking the high end this gen. Nvidia has put out the Titan, Titan Black, and now Titan Z. AMD gave us a loud and hot 290.

Personally I don't even know if the 790 will be a thing... I mean it would make sense that it would be considering there was a 690 and 590 etc... I think that the Titan Z is the dual-GPU card that will take the place of the 790. And even if the 790 would exist, IMO, it would still be very expensive. The titan Z is 2x Titan Black GPUs on a single PCB with an extra 6GB VRAM, and that costs $3000, when you can get better performance on all resolutions up to 4K with 2x Titan Blacks for $1,000 cheaper, if the 790 used even 2x 780's it might cost upwards of $1,500. Just my two cents, especially considering the Titan Z is a dual Kepler card.

Thankyou for the replies and yes it is true that the 790 can only be a speculation towards its release however with the latest dual graphics release ( Titan Z ) there is still no alternative to a dual-gpu card that is focused towards just gamers at a price point that will compete with the 295x2. There fore I think it would make sense for nvidia to release a 790 and that of which would include say the 5gb VRAM that has been rumored but yet again those are only rumors. If the 295x2 is price pointed at the 1000-1300$ Area i believe a 790 will be forced out of nivida. Crossfire scales great and the hybrid cooler will get a bad rep but it shows that they are understanding that there products run hot and it can be used as an all in-one solution for cooling and OC'ing. I think well see a lot from both companies this month and competition will be strong!!

Just thought I'd pop in, I don't think they'll do a dual gpu card in the 7xx series. There is rumours however of a gtx880 being released. It has a smaller 256bit bus but has 3200 cores and 7.1billion transistors... Apparently!

You might want to look it up :)
