Problem: Static-like/loading sound

Just received my PC from UPS on Tuesday(4/1), everything ran great and started well. It was the quietest computer I have owned...Today, it just started making a static-like/old school loading sound coming from the motherboard. It is a physical sound, not one over the speakers.

I have taken the side panel off to listen closer and it is definitely coming from the motherboard area. I checked all the fans, it was none of those. It's a sound I haven't heard before. I have turned off power, and the sound goes away, and rebooted and the sound comes back. Not sure what it is, or what to do to fix. Its obviously very annoying to try and be near the tower because you constantly hear that sound.

Please help,
Thanks

Solution
What you are hearing are the Chokes, and, or the VRM modules working on the board.
Controlling smooth power to the board and extra components connected to it.

Digi VRM modules used with the board.

If can list the Psu brand name used in the build.
(Standard Psu, could mean a Cheap PSU)

It may be the cause. A cheap Psu will have less power filtering and can be the cause of noise from the chokes or Vrm modules of the motherboard.

Yes it makes a noise. But it works.
But if your un happy with it send it back under RMA if a custom pre built system.

How come there was no sound at all day one though, if that's what it is?

Because the Psu is the focal link.
Day one it may of worked fine, but the Psu was put under load.

Loading a Psu, or overloading it if not a very good brand will cause it to produce irregular power out put, the noise is the VRM`s or chokes trying to smooth the voltage supplied from the PSU.

It is why I asked what is the brand name of the PSU.
Because I suspect the Psu if a cheap brand is overloaded, and the cause of the sounds.

Psu`s in some cases do not fail straight away, but degrade if put under heavy load if not up to the job. So day one no sound, the next day a nasty buzzing.

Ok thank you. When I shut the PC off (I turned off the main power switch), let it sit for an hour, now the sound is gone but I haven't put a load on it. So it must be a garbage PSU. I originally ordered a Corsair 600W but they must of ran out of those and "upgraded" me to this 800W without asking me.
