Hey guys! First, sorry for my grammar and misspelling, English isn't my native language. I've spent the whole night trying to resolve this issue. One of my hard drives died, I replaced it with my older and smaller one from an old PC, so I had to update all the drivers from scratch. It auto installed High Definition Audio sound driver which doesnt produce any sound, so I've done some research and for my motherboard I'm supposed to use VIA High Definition Audio driver. Found it, installed, still no result. I've tried many different things and suggestions I've found on google, such as installing Vista x64 drivers, nothing helped.
At first with the automatic driver updates I couldn't get to pick headphones as an option, only had that SPDIF thingy, then I got the VIA driver and I now see both speakers and headphones with the program running in tray. When play some music or just test, I get signals but no sound at all. Sometimes when rebooting I just get some very little static noise. Tried both front and back jacks..
I've went into bios and changed the onboard audio thingy, can't remember the name sorry, from auto to enabled, back and forth, so any suggestion is appreciated as I'm exhausted and tired of browsing.

My OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Motherboard: ASRock Phenom II A790GMH/128M (AM+2 Socket I believe)

If more info is required, please ask for it as I'm not some PC genius. (obviously)

Also one more thing, even if I try to manually update my sound driver, my PC will still auto update to High Definition Audio and override the one I installed, leaving it with a yellow exclamation mark.

I'm downloading it now. But how should I apply it? Do I unninstal my previous drivers first or do I just run the new ones? Because as I mentioned earlier, some versions I've tried installing have been "overrided" by the automatic one that gets installed whenever I restart my PC.

I found this info:"- 7.1 CH Windows® Vista™ Premium Level HD Audio (VIA® VT1708S Audio Codec)"
I have every single compatible driver that exists now, tried every single one and it just won't work.

if you have found the right drivers for your motherboard, go to system tray and right click on the speaker icon. Select playback devices. Make sure you have selected Speakers. Right click on it select Test. Can you hear?

I did that way back. There were no other devices besides the S/PDIF one, not even hidden ones. Just refreshed my OS with Win7 non Ultimate, works like a charm, won't change it ever again.
Thanks for spending time trying to help me and the suggestions mate, appreciated. :)
