Hi may i know Gigabyte EP45-Extreme support crossfire or sli? Because i have been do some search on goggle but there some wrote was SLI and some are Crossfire, can anyone explain to me?

What are this mean (At the foot of the board you have what looks like a third graphics slot so you might have visions of CrossFireX but it’s a bit of an illusion as the P45 supports a total of 20 lanes of PCIe so the third slot actually receives just four lanes of PCI Express and is little use for graphics.) ?

Because i was going to bought the EGVA GTX 580, wish to try dual SLI.

I'm still new in pc build correct me if there is anywrong on my grammar.

Your motherboard supports CrossFire X with AMD graphics cards but your motherboard does not support SLI with NVIDIA graphics cards. SLI has to be licensed from NVIDIA by the motherboard manufacturer for it to be supported, so I would seriously doubt you will be able to get SLI to function on a board not listing it as a feature.

Solution
your board does not support SLI. well i heard stories about it back then that there were some kind clash between nvidia and intel (during the core 2 duo/quad era) which lead to intel refusing SLI stuff to be added on intel motherboard. most likely those mentioning SLI working on this board were using driver hack so SLI will work on non SLI certified mobo. and i haven't heard much about this hack for quite sometime.

btw why GTX580?
