hi all.
i have 2x 4GB Kingston Hyperx 1600MHz Ram that runs at 1.6 V

however.

my CPU
Intel i5 3750K (or something like that i don't have box with me)
but anyway it run's at 1.5 V optimally.
so i think im over heating my CPU by having too much voltage in the ram. because the CPU fam is mega loud!

but more to the point,
will it break my ram if i lower the volts?
i was thinking of swapping it out for the grey plug n play version thats better for intel cpu's but if i could just use what i have already that would save me loads of trouble

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. The HyperX memory runs by default at 1.5V, it's overclock setting or XMP profile for the higher advertised specification 1600Mhz would run at 1.65V. If you did not set the memory timings or select the XMP profile the memory would be running on default 1333MHz at 1.5V. It shouldn't hurt to run the memory at 1.5V it just may not be able to run at 1600MHz properly so will need to go down to 1333MHz. For any further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner

If you have ram that isn't capable at running lower voltages but it will probably be unstable. but it can also cause read/ write errors. Your ram could be faulty. I highly recommend that you don't lower your voltages. If is your ram just send it back and ask for a replacement and see if that works otherwise it could be your CPU or motherboard. Hope Ive helped! :D good luck!
