I have just built a PC for my dad and it went together fine and I didn't have a single problem with it until I pressed the power button. I have triple checked every connection and every cable is in the right socket and connected properly. However when I plug it in the standby light comes on but when I press the power button nothing happens and I mean nothing, no fans, no lights, no beeps, nothing prompts on screen.
I have checked both ram sticks (taking 1 out and testing the other and in other ram slot) and it changed nothing.
I have checked the PSU (paper clip in 14+15 pin) and the PSU started up so I know that's not faulty.
I have tried manually turning it on (2 power pins on mobo) and still nothing.
I have tried only connecting the 24pin and seeing if it POSTs (it didn't)
During testing the pc I took out the GPU so I think that is fine.
So my thinking is that the motherboard is the problem and either it was DOA or I have cocked it up with something simple that I have over looked.
specs
- Asus p8h77-m pro motherboard
- corsair cx500m power supply
- kingston 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram (2x4gb)
- 240gb kingston hyperx ssd
- gigabyte gt 630 gpu
Any ideas of fixes or tests is very much welome, even the simplest of simple things.

Current fix for this issue is in this video.
