I have just built a PC for my dad and it went together fine and I didn't have a single problem with it until I pressed the power button. I have triple checked every connection and every cable is in the right socket and connected properly. However when I plug it in the standby light comes on but when I press the power button nothing happens and I mean nothing, no fans, no lights, no beeps, nothing prompts on screen.

I have checked both ram sticks (taking 1 out and testing the other and in other ram slot) and it changed nothing.
I have checked the PSU (paper clip in 14+15 pin) and the PSU started up so I know that's not faulty.
I have tried manually turning it on (2 power pins on mobo) and still nothing.
I have tried only connecting the 24pin and seeing if it POSTs (it didn't)
During testing the pc I took out the GPU so I think that is fine.

So my thinking is that the motherboard is the problem and either it was DOA or I have cocked it up with something simple that I have over looked.

specs
- Asus p8h77-m pro motherboard
- corsair cx500m power supply
- kingston 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram (2x4gb)
- 240gb kingston hyperx ssd
- gigabyte gt 630 gpu

Any ideas of fixes or tests is very much welome, even the simplest of simple things.

UPDATE:
Current fix for this issue is in this video.

Haven't contacted them directly yet but from recent reviews on most of the parts no one else has had a completely dead part. However, if no one else can think of solutions or ideas to try then I will call them and maybe go through the long and boring RMA process...

I have taking the motherboard out of the case and plugged it into the PSU to check if the stand off's were causing it but it still did not power on, boot, post and no fans moved nothing happened.
I am starting to think that I have shocked the motherboard when I was installing the hardware, does anyone with better knowledge than me have an idea if this is true or not?

Really need some answers because I have tried almost everything I can think of.

Yes and the 24pin and the CPU fan, which have been triple checked.

I have just taking everything out and tried powering the motherboard to see if it would POST at all and again nothing.
Does anyone know if this sounds like its faulty mobo or a fried mobo at all?
