screen goes blank after login

Hi! Its been hardly a week since i bought win8.1 pro with all upgraded drives & cards. But suddenly today on startup, the screen goes blank after login. Only the white mouse cursor moves & crtl-alt-del works. But the task manager also doesnt open. The screen goes blank again. I tried going into msconfig but the screen went blank before it could open. Please help!

Can you get into safe mode?
Try: wait for the accont log-in screen.
Don't log in, but go to the right bottom 'shut-down' symbol.
Once the pop menu shows the options select 'restart' whilst holding the 'shift' key.
Once there try: start control panel,
select, hardware and sound-> power options,->system settings
disable "turn on fast startup(recommended)" checkbox
From what i've seen the fast startup isn't loading drivers properly. Let me know if this works.
