Hi there, new to this forum and looking for some advice

I am thinking to get a computer built for my business. Basically I need a computer that can handle lots of tabs. Probably 300 or so tabs at once as I import lots of URLs at once so my current laptop gets hanged at 50 tabs itself

Kindly advice me what kind of PC requirements are needed for this

Solution
So I just kind of tried this. 40 instances of FireFox, with 5 tabs each. Slashdot, Toms, Fark.com, Google, local webpage..

i5-3570k, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 50/25 pipe.

It started to act funky after about 35 instances. Didn't crash, but very unresponsive.

Trying it again with one browser instance, and 150 tabs (multiple instances of the above).
Took quite some time before all the tabs loaded (actually, still waiting)

Ah ha! As I was writing this, FF crashed. Recovered, but crashed.
I think trying to open 300 tabs will end up being an operating system and web browser limitation. I have not tried to open that many, or even close to it, but you may want to check with some support people at Microsoft/Firefox/Opera to see if that will work. Each tab will use up (in IE at least) 10-30mb or even more RAM. So to run well you need 3 gig of RAM for 100 tabs, if the OS and the browser can manage that many without locking up. EDIT -- quick web search, seems that at least Firefox and Chrome can open over 300 tabs. Of course how stable your system will be when running all those web pages is a guess at this point. Keep in mind that those tab numbers may be just blank tabs without running web pages in them. If you have that many web pages loading, you are almost guaranteed to have something lock up on you.

In theory, for 300 tabs, 12 gig of RAM and an i7 CPU, you may also want an SSD drive to keep the cache running quickly.

What are you current system specs?

I actually have that exact setup in my W520 laptop, I am tempted to see how many tabs I can open before I crash.

Anything under $500 would be fine since I am going to put some into Dual monitors too and I need a desktop. Already have a Mac which isn't suitable for heavy work

Thanks for the advice. I was also wondering about that 8+ gig RAM and a higher CPU. Currently I just have a Macbook Air 2012 version which is 4 gig and isnt suitable for heavy work. It doesnt crash as such but makes it too slow and the laptop starts making noise and not to miss out the Heat.

As you can see from above ^ that system is probably over $500 and will have issues with well under 300 tabs.

And that's with 16 gig of RAM.

You will need a very well tuned and beefy system to do what you want.

Maybe a Linux build as that should be a bit more stable, but it may not run all the programs you use.

i just opened like 300 tabs on mine..(chrome)...works like a champ.......but i also have a very decent build....why do you need to open 300 tabs at the same time, why not use a spread sheet to host all the url's.
