Greetings !

Well not quite lost yet, first build already ordered desktop just missing monitor.

I did have my eyes on 144hz, looking into G-sync Asus monitors but horrendous pricing, would rather wait for Q1 2015 when all the cards are on the table like Freesync from AMD and see where the tech and prices go. I will be purchasing high end GPU in Q1 2015 so will make an upgrade then.

For placeholder monitor now I think I will start with IPS 60hz monitor, need solid recommendation on a budget, 21-24'', maybe around the £100-140 ish price range.

Purchasing tonight, Thanks !

PS: Feel free to give recommendations outside the parameters If you think of better alternative.

Note: 1080p preferable.

Yeah if you want more time there will probably be even better displays available. Just use the time between now and when you go to purchase a new monitor and system about what technology is out there. Just look at all the panels and figure out what looks best to you. I normally recommend going to a store that has monitors that aren't just generic monitors and look at the different panels and find out which one looks the best to you. Reviews I think are nice at times but they can be misleading. A lot of the time when people pick out computer parts for other people they tend to treat it as if they are building it for them self, which isn't good. So just being able to educate yourself a bit really can help you out a lot in making the right...

Ips panels are really good, but for gaming they can seem somewhat slow. VA from benq is really nice. They used monitors with that VA and gtg technology at a lot of professional gaming tournaments. you could get something like a 27'' monitor like this one http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=69381 it came out around late 2012 but for the price and build quality you won't find much better for under $200 usd but it should be within your budget

You're not doing much gaming?
as a sidenote, I assume you wanna raid0 the hdds?
Actually no, avoiding RAID 0 by using shadowplay, one dedicated drive to recording other for data. Moba, RTS, RPG ocasional FPS, with healthy dose of editing.

I see.
I was asking about gaming because the GPU you ordered is not quite on par with the rest of the build-gamingwise.
Anyhow, what i can suggest is getting a monitor with a 2 ms response time.
I have a BenQ GL2450HM with an advertised 2 ms g2g and it ghosts like a motherfucker.
If you get an lcd/led one, you should test it before buying to avoid backlight edge bleeding.
Can't say anything about IPS monitors, don't know enough.

Sounds good, going to stick with anti-glare. Would it defeat the purpose of going IPS if matte screen dumbs down color representation? * if that makes sense *

Yep it looks fantastic, costs £275 on Amazon UK and £289 on overclockers tough ! Going to look into prices shipping from US, but I doubt it.

I think a monitor is something that you should try investing the most time in. while also trying to figure out cost and everything. Like a lot of places now have financing options available. I just think something that will last you 5 years apposed to other components in your pc should be well thought out. Like I just recently upgraded to those a while ago. I bought my monitor for about $400 back in the day and I had no problems with it until some the color on the edge of the screen starting to turn yellowish. but the thing lasted me over 6 years.

The negative reviews on ASUS VG248QE are scary, as with most popular products I guess. I get your point and agree, but maybe I can delay that decision until early 2015 get by with run mill standard display for now.

Normally if you ask people or go by reviews they always feed of each other and say things like this person is an idiot and this sucks, or this person is an idiot and what you suggested sucks, and then the original question almost becomes ignored. So if you have like half a year to decide just do some of your own research on everything from no till your purchase
