Hello,

I looked for similar problems over the internet, but got various results.

I wanted to improve my PC's performances so I bought 2 * 4 Gb of Kingston HyperX Black to replace my old 2 * 2 Gb Kingston 1333MHz. I found on a forum that voltage doesn't really matter, and 1.5v 1333 MHz would work with the new memory. But when I replaced them and ran the computer (with same BIOS settings) Windows 7 x64 got stuck on loading (first step, but no "flag light" showing up). A bootable flash drive (of Windows 7 installation) neither does work (stuck on full loading files bar).
Then I tried various risky tests with BIOS settings (XMP enabled to set 1.65v and 1600 MHz, with and without Turbo Mode) but the system is just unstable, crashes randomly even in the BIOS step. I can only launch Windows with the old memory and settings.

With this memory spec (http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX16C9B1B_4.pdf) I thought it would work on my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-H55-UD3H): it's written "standard 1.5V" all over the PDF.

If you need more information (i5 processor), don't hesitate.

Thank you a lot in advance for making this set up work (so I didn't spend 66€ for nothing). And sorry for my English.

What are the "same BIOS settings"?

The new RAM has new settings, so you need to input those values for the system to work properly. If you continue to have a problem, test them individually to see if each can boot and work properly.

If you have an i5 CPU, it does not support DDR3-1600. Manually set the RAM to DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 and see how that works.

Updating BIOS can also improve memory compatibility so that is something you can check for

Thanks for your reply!
I thought 9-9-9-24 was a physical property of the memory, not a bios setting. I don't know where to set it up, here are screen shots of my bios current settings :

I think it is in "Advanced Memory Settings" > "Channel A/B Timing Settings", but I can't modify any of the fields and moreover I don't know which ones to set.

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. The HyperX Black memory should run at 1333MHz 9-9-9 at 1.5V by default. The issue may be that the memory is currently made with 4Gbit DRAM chips making them Single Rank. Previously, the memory was Dual Rank made with 2Gbit DRAM chips. We no longer support your motherboard GA-H55-UD3H as it is not compatible with 4Gbit DRAM and cannot communicate properly with new memory. For any further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

Would it be useful to call the support if it is known that there is an incompatibility? Moreover, I can't call from France to America.

Is there any way of making this working? If not, what would be a cheap similar model of mobo that could do the same than mine and accept the new memory?

Thanks
