Hi
I'm new to overclocking and I came here for a little help. I've spent days looking up stuff and reading it on overclocking most of it from this site.

So here are my system specs:

e8400 Cpu
CM Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
GA-EP45-UD3R Motherboard (newest bios)
DDR F28500CL5D 2x2GB Ram
Nvidia Gtx 460 Gpu
Corsair Tx750w Psu
128 SSD 1Tb HD 600GB HD
Rosewill Blackhawk Case

Ok so im trying to oc my e8400 to 4Ghz. I tried these settings and failed prime95 after 6hours. My temps are in the low 60's with the max at 64. Now I'm wondering if there is any other settings that I could change to make it stable or should i try uping the vcore more.

Fsb 445 with 9x multi
VCore1.31
DRam Voltage 2.1V
Memory Frequency 890 (If i go higher its a little above 1066)

Thanks for any help. :D

Well I've looked at a few videos on youtube but they don't really explain anything. Plus my bios is set up different I don't have a ram ratio mine is like a fsb strap I think it says. My ram says on it that it runs 2.0-2.1v I don't know if its ok to run it at 2.1v. I just need more understanding of some of the setting and if there are other setting to mess with. I might try to up my vcore but i think it's gonna make my temps go to high but i guess its worth a try.

Have you tried unlinking the RAM from the FSB? When overclocking a Core2 CPU, you increase the FSB which also increases the RAM frequency. You should be able to unlink them so the RAM runs at it's max speed while increasing the CPU clock.

So I tried changing a few settings gonna try the stress test again.

The highest setting i can get for the ram is 890 anything else puts it over 1066. I didn't see anyway to unlink the ram. I did have MCH on auto so i put it at 400mhz and i have a setting XMP that i disabled maybe this will work. I can run 3.8Ghz with max ram setting and vcore at 1.3v don't know if it could go lower or not just figured i would mention that.
