I have an Alienware Aurora desktop computer with a Dell internet wi-fi 'router' to pick up wi-fi connections. My wi-fi connection is of UPC and I'm having quite some trouble with it. Every so often the wi-fi can be used by my desktop and maybe a day and maybe even weeks later I start up my computer it is just gone. It's nowhere to be found in the connections list and rebooting the computer, wi-fi router, fiddling with the settings doesn't help at all. It's a really fast connection and when i can't use it i have to rely on a 800kbps connection while i stream. Please help me out :)

It is possible that the radio in your router has died (it happens). Since the problem is intermittent though, it may also be caused by a specific source of interference that is not always active. It could be a large motor, transformer, or other piece of equipment.

Well, this Alienware computer is about 2-3 months old and the router itself is a tiny little box called the UPC Horizon. Also the wi-fi itself works because it is visible and working on all mobiles, ipad and my own laptop aswell it's just not showing on this computer. So to awnser your post the wi-firouter is not broken.

And will the more expensive one with 3 antenna's give me more internet from the wifi or will the 30$ do the same thing just fine? If so i'll close the thread and buy one instantly :) I appreciate your help Onus!

This is pretty much my experience too. Inexpensive WiFi products work fine when there is a strong signal. At the margins, higher quality really pays off.
