Freezing or Frames Chopping/Skipping No Framerate Drops

Mostly in CS;GO, but other games and applications as well. The game literally stops for a few seconds and then cuts back in. I have great frame rates and a mid-high end system, but it seems to have happened more and more often as time passes.

I recently had a grounding issue, or maybe it was something else not sure all I know is changing the plug and the outlet seemed to have stopped the weird noises coming from my speakers while gaming, and it makes me afraid that I may have damaged some of my components while it wasn't properly grounded or wired or whatever was wrong with it.

I also noticed that the motherboard has begun to not recognize the second card every once in a while and when it happens windows reports that the drivers were not installed properly, even though when I check it's still getting power to the fans and the drivers are the latest and were fine until about a week ago.

The really weird thing is that when I run stress tests on it whether number crunching like P95 or 3D like Heaven or 3DMark FireStrike it shows no signs of being unhealthy.

It's really just one big mess these days and I'm at a loss what to do I really don't have time to be running tests and pulling it apart all day or the money to bring it to shop at the moment, so I thought I would see if I could get some help here before I take it in

TL;DR: My computers acting really funny and I don't know why please help.

are you running two monitors at all? like i know some people will use the intel graphics on one monitor and the gpu on the other. If I recall correctly I had the same issue with my 780 ti on my lan pc for a while. But I soon figured out that it was an issue with the intel hd graphics driver that needed an update.

I'm running eyefinity, but all the ports are attached to one card and I don't have an igp. Also it's crashing on benchmarks now all day, even when everything is on stock clocks and it gets worse when I run an OC of 4Ghz.

Did you do try doing a fresh install to isolate a software problem? Just a little tip if you ever do a fresh install with a system that has an ssd and a hard drive always remove the sata connector from it or else what can happen like the boot sector for what ever reason will go on the hard drive and the rest will go on the ssd. I would try that first and then try the fresh install without windows automatic updates just the most recent drivers for your system. if that doesn't work it I would say it would most likely be your motherboard.

Luckily it's the weekend because I sort of need that computer for work, but it would be a good idea to re-install an OS considering I F'd up the boot with some fooling around with the Chrome OS and the Android Jellybean. But no, I had already had Windows OS(min OS) installed way before the HDD was installed.

Sorry it took so long to get all this stuff done, had a lot of other stuff to do this weekend. But I did a clean install started to run some 3D tests. I can OC my GPU's again without a hitch, but I haven't done anything with the CPU thus far.

Now even after a clean install I notice that windows explorer was crashing and freezing on it's own. When I go to minimize something sometimes it exits the program and when I click on a program it doesn't open. Then the system will crash if I persistently try to open it via different channels.

I ran a check disk and repair, it hasn't happened again... yet. But if it does do you think this sounds like my SSD is dead or is dying or would it be something else I'm missing?

Do you get random crashes like you will be doing something and then xxx xxxx.exe has crashed? one time when I installed a hard drive something went wrong and the ram got messed up. Did you do a full memtest86 yet? you can also try under clocking your video card to see if it helps. I recommend taking 15 off the core clock and 20 of the memory clock at a time until about the 10% mark. You could also try upping the voltage by 10% for your video cards in CCC. let me know what happens

So I'm guessing it's not the DIMMs, I just ran 4 passes of all the tests (appr. 8:30:00). I'm going to run some P95 overnight to make sure the CPU is stable at stock clocks and temps, thus far it's not liking even the slightest OC. But the cards aren't giving me any problems as of late.

It crashed last night while running P95 @ an OC that was stable before(well not for a month now), so I'm beginning to think all the overclocking/benchmarks resulting in high temperatures and high voltages have taken their toll on the structure of the silicon.

I'm going to run stock clocks when I get home from work to see if its been beaten beyond salvage or if it just doesn't like overclocking anymore. Of course it could be the mainboard as well, but it's not like I have another i7 lying around to test it out.

Thanks for sticking with me through all this time. It seems as though everything is fine as long as I keep the CPU at stock clocks. Must have been a bad update and silicon degradation, seeing as I've tjmax'd(emergency heat shutdown) it a few times, it's not very surprising if that is the case.

I had the same problem but there is a fix that I stumbled upon by accident. Check and see if any of your CPU cores are parked at all. If they are, then unpark them. You can see if your cores are parked by checking your resource monitor on windows, just go to the CPU tab and scroll down reading the right side. Some cores will be labeled as parked.
