Hey there all!

I've recently been having an issue with a new computer build that I constructed a few weeks ago. Randomly while starting up, the computer will POST get past the Windows 8 loading screen but then cut to black. Occasionally, I can see the screensaver or otherwise the login screen but others it's just a blank black screen or a black screen with a cursor if I move the cursor for a little bit. When I try to interact with it, it tends to flicker between all these states.

I'd thought it may be a power issue, maybe too much energy draw from the system or a grounding issue since one of my case fans seemed to have a bad pin in the connector. However, I disconnected all of them and same thing. Then later, I switched my main hard drive from a SATAIII slot to a SATAII slot and it booted miraculously fast! I was so happy!

I got in installed Titanfall and ESO (beta) and played them both for hours on end. I left the thing running for a few days and was able to use the computer at-will (as it should be!). I shut it down last night to save on energy costs and I opened it up this morning to my original issue. Could it be a faulty driver? I'd check for updates in Safe Mode but for some reason F8 won't trigger the option for me. Can the key be different for different mobos? Anyways, I'd appreciate any help my friends!

Hey Scout, thanks so much for getting back to me with that suggestion. I've been away for a while due to work, so I got around recently to downloading SeaTools and running the tests. I've run everything except the Long Generic so far, but all tests passed on the hard drive. I'll run the Long Generic later on today, and I would try the Advanced Tests but after reading the warning...I might hold off on those unless they're super duper imporant.

I appreciate the answer though!
