Will this motherboard:
http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/B85MECSM/

Support the i7 4770K??
Just because they are same socket doesn't always mean they are compatible

In the description it says it supports i7/i5/i3 4th gen processors.
Does this mean it supports the 4th gen such as 4770 right out of the box, or does it mean it supports it AFTER a BIOS update? It is common for motherboard manufacturers to say it supports a certain processor when it only supports it after a bios update

EDIT: I WILL NOT BE OVERCLOCKING
I meant to say 4770, not 4770k

More about : motherboard support cpu

Yes it is compatible but will not allow you to OC the 4770K so you may as well save money and get regular I7 4770.

Yes. If the motherboard has an LGA 1150 socket, it will fit. To get the most out of your i7-4770k CPU, you want to make sure that the motherboard that you choose has a Z87 chipset. The H87 chipset is the other chipset, but it is not aimed at the "higher-end" CPUs. Hope this helps! :D

UPDATE: I forgot to mention this.....The Z87 is the only real chipset that you can overclock with. Some manufacturers included a BIOS that allows you to overclock with the H87, but I don't really recommend it. Buying a motherboard with an H87 chipset for your i7-4770k would be like buying a Ferrari and putting a Volkswagon engine in it. It just wouldn't make sense, and you would greatly reduce the performance of your machine.
