I researched sound-cards and headphones because I heard that gaming headsets can be trash when it comes to listening to music and playing games for the best audio experience. I have Gamescon headphones and they work great because they are my first set. However my father is a musician and i heard his quality headphones. I wanted to purchase closed back headphones to isolate myself in the living room, while on computer so wife can watch tv in peace and I can enjoy gaming in pc. However sound-cards are tricky, and there are many headphones.

I have decided to price my headphones at 100 dollars and I saw these, and I like the look of them. (Sennheiser Black HD 280 PRO 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Circumaural Professional DJ & Studio Headphone) Of course i dont understand what to look for in headphones other than price.
Are these good headphones?

On that note should i get a sound card for these? I havent purchased them yet because I dont want to jump in. I read and some say sound cards help get the best sound. If that is the case I would like something other 100 dollars or 200 dollars. However 100 dollars is preferred. I found these (ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card). They come with Dolby headphones. I know other brands come with some 3d thing but its a coinflip cause everyone praises both. I as-well don't know what to look for in a sound-card other than price and
SNR (lower is better?) and Sample rate (higher is better)
I'm lost please help.

Unless your pc has an older mobo, with bad onboard sound, dont buy a soundcard. I would recommend skipping the soundcard, getting some Audiotechnica ATH M-50's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (you can probably get them for about $150 on another website, look around first, I just used newegg because it was faster to find) and if you need a mic you could pick up a good usb mic for cheap. The Seinheiser's seem pretty good, but can be uncomfortable if you have a large head. Good luck!

Well ok. But would the Germans be fine? Would the sound even be good without the sound card? Cause I want surround sound or an equivalent. My mobo is a asrock I got a year ago. Would a sound card increase the quality if sound. Does every sound card have those surround sound or 3d features? How would I know what sound card is right?

A lot to answer but these are questions I could not find the answer to. I want to be sure. I'm sure buying 1k of gear would solve the issue but I don't..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1rXcJuEsy0 This should help with your decision hopefully. But yes, I think you will be fine without a soundcard. When looking for headphones you should get something comfortable, and good sound fidelity, make sure it doesnt just make stuff louder (like Beats), but actually sounds better.
