Help! Would a GTX 550 ti run on an Asus F2A55-M/M11BB?

I recently bought an Asus M series tower for a friend and wanted to move their GTX 550 ti graphics card into it. I have downloaded the proper drives and the card sits in the compatible pci express x16 slot. But when I attempt to run the system check to install the card's drivers I'm given an error message saying that compatible hardware could not be found.

update: The computer's os is Win8.1 64-bit

Are you sure you have the correct drivers for the GTX 550 ti? What version of Windows are you using? 32 or 64 bit?

yes, the computer is running Windows 8.1 64-bit and I've confirmed that these are the drives I've downloaded

yes that exact version. I'm also trying to run an older version of the drivers. Version 334.89

Does your system work with the 550ti and the generic Windows VGA drivers?

Also, did you remove the previous AMD video drivers (assuming that you were using integrated video adapter)?
