6+2 pin connector question (noob)

Hey guys I'm just installing my rma'd gigabyte r9 280x and have plugged in the two 6 pin connectors but the +2 pin goes in but doesn't go in as far as the 6 pins when connected, Is this normal?

looks like its about 4-5mm out from being right in
