Looking for insight on wireless NICs

Hello,
I usually strictly abide by wired networking, but my current situation has prompted otherwise.
To the point...

My router is a 350N, but that is more than likely to change in the near future, being that i am now expanding on my wireless network.

So with the future in mind, i am looking for a wireless NIC that will suit my needs.
I don't plan on expanding to 802.11AC in the "near" future. If i need gigabit and over network speeds, i will go back to wired (as much of a pain as that may be).

What wireless speeds can i reasonably expect here?

Thanks as always!!

To be clear:
1) I get about 7MB/second from 2nd floor to basement. You might do better with the card I linked but I'm uncertain. The wi-fi card I linked would be better but your Router doesn't sound as good. However, the wi-fi card both can receive and send better than my USB adapter so that compensates to a point for having a cheaper Router (I believe you said yours was not Gigabit capable).

2) 10/100 speeds max out about 11MB/second. Gigabit is about 10X that.

So I've got plenty of bandwidth to stream most VIDEOS. Even my compressed ones that are 6GB per hour work fine.

Where I really care is my MDMYCLOUD which is attached to...

Where I really care is my MDMYCLOUD which is attached to my Router via an Ethernet cable. I'm limited by my roughly 7MB/second wi-fi speed if the device is wi-fi or about 60MB/second via Gigabit Ethernet (A Gigabit Router works up to roughly 120MB/second max but the bottleneck here is the WDMYCLOUD itself).

You hit the nail on the head for me.
I have a WDMYCLOUD as well, and I've always been wired in, so network speeds are no problem.
I "borrowed" the card i bought for my girlfriend (300N), and i'm pulling my hair out in comparison to what i had!

The router is dated, no doubt, but that's only considering the WiFi. :pfff:
Without spending $300 on my home network, i think i may be capped out at 900Mbs.

I'm literally going across the room from the router, so there are no physical interferences.
But i am in an apartment, so the 2.4GHz band is CROWDED for lack of a better term.
