Why OS denied access to software download?

I have some older software I've used for years to do all my photo fixing, (like Photoshop just much more simple). It's called "Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition v1.1 I knew that any OS newer than Vista was not compatible so... when I found a very nice (like new) Gateway laptop (like my old one that finally died after about 5 years), I bought it because it has Vista Home Premium. When I put the CD in the drive, auto play opened the options. But when I clicked on "Install PhotoDelixe, I got a little box, (notice) that says: D:\adobe\install.exe "The operating system denied access to the specified file." Needless to say I was surprised but more than that I was very sad because I'm an artist and I LOVE and have used this software exclusively for years. (It came free with a scanner I bought many years ago. Not to boast but I can do more with it than most can do with full PhotoShop. :)

Does anyone know how I can override this denial of access and download anyway? I thank you in advance for any help. Sincerely... RC Nummer1ahteest. :)

was the os clean installed on the new laptop?? if not it could be a virus or it damaged. if it a new laptop and you have the disks for it I would do a clean install if you can install the software. one thing to look online is see if there any patches or work around from adobe for the issue. some times they have patches.
