All-brand SSD Software like Samsung Magician or Intel Toolbox?

When considering SSD brands other than Samsung or Intel, there are no obvious
equivalents to the software provided by Samsung and Intel.

I have had problems with three Samsung 840 Pro drives (none with my Intel drives).
These problems make me very wary of SSD brands with no utilities.

Are there any similar, cross-brand SSD utilities, preferably free?

Thanks

What kind of problem did you have with the Pros?

Re the Samsung Pros:
One began taking 80 seconds to boot. This on an i7-4770K system with 16GB RAM.
Another cold booted into an automatic fdisk/r -- I've never seen this before, and it is worrysome -- been working OK since.
The third totally destroyed an Ubuntu 13 build. Had to start from scratch.

In each case I breathed heavily on these Samsungs with Magician (and other software) before trusting them, and all have been OK so far.

As a side point, nearly two years ago, my 256GB Crucial M4 SSD went south.
HDTune test of the sick M4 said it was fine (it certainly was not).
Crucial support sent me a series of steps to fix it, which worked.
These steps are similar to parts of Samsung Magician/ IBM Toolbox: Update firmware, run at idle for long periods (allows Trim to work). Power off, back on for long idle times to repeat Trim action.

I much prefer fixing a sick SSD to trading it for someone else's factory-repaired drive, with unknown hours/writes. That's why I hope to find an all-brand utility similar to Magician/Toolbox. Then it would be more rational to consider other, brands as they are on sale.

Re Toshiba -- Their specs don't list memory type. That's too cute to trust. Hence I avoid them.
