My old headset has died and I'm researching getting a new headset but want to keep the cost under say ~$130. The Func HS -260 or the Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2 both seem pretty good and currently are both $89.99, is there one you would favor over the other? I don't really care about 5.1 or 7.1 it's not essential to me but I do really enjoy powerful bass :) even if it drowns out other sound effects a bit. I'm not looking to be a pro gamer but just have fun ;) and to me bass is fun. Anything else you guys might recommend?

I am currently in your predicament and I chose to go with the 'Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2'.
Worst decision. I am now getting a refund.

To not go into a lot of detail, here is a list of known issues about this headset which I stupidly chose to ignore:

1) The drivers for this headset are god-awful and they keep getting worse
2) when the mic is active you always hear feedback in a form of hissing or whining
3) even when the mic is not active, there still is some very low feedback.
4) in gaming this really isnt the best and the 7.1 really isn't all that; you cannot pinpoint people.

these may seem like small issues but believe me it drove me to get a refund and now I am stuck searching for new headphones.

I am currently looking at the Func HS-260 or the Razer Kraken pro or even an Audiophile headphone.

whatever you choose; stay away from corsair headsets!

Hmmm Yeah I watched a video review on the 1500 v2 posted by Tek Syndicate and did notice some slight hissing. Maybe I will avoid those ones then. The HS-260 is supposed to have one of the best mics in its price bracket so I'm leaning towards that more now
