Gamepad or mouse - leaning back or sitting up

Hi
I'm getting a new pc for gaming. I played games on a pc quite a bit 13, 14 years ago, since then I've been on consoles.

I'm wondering about gamepad vs mouse.

I know the mouse gives much greater accuracy than a gamepad but I do appreciate the laid back (and leaning back) way of using a gamepad. With a mouse, you sort of have to sit up, no?

If using a gamepad in a first-person shooter (where the mouse has the advantage for accuracy), is there some sort of aiming assist that can be implemented to make up for the gamepad's lack of accuracy?

What do you know about these issues? Oh, and btw, you can turn on vibrate on a gamepad, no?

I have my computer hooked up to my entertainment center and am quite comfortable laying on my couch using a pillow as a mouse pad.

As far as aiming assist it does exist but that is considered "hacking" it would be some kind of aimbot or something.

The thing is I'm not interested in playing online, so I'm not bothered if I'm better or worse than other people just if the game is enjoyably playable in single player.

So I guess I'm asking if it gets frustrating to play with a gamepad.

I think so. Then again I'm use to PC seeing as i haven't owned a gaming system since ps2. You being use to playing with a controller might take to it better... It will put you at a general disadvantage though because you will have done better if you had used a mouse and keyboard. but in the end its your experience so whatever makes it best for you. ;)
