Upgrade Windows 8.1 from 32 to 64 bit

Solution
Just as COLGeek said you can't upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit. So assuming what COLGeek says is true that you can use the same key from a 32-bit for 64-bit and if you don't want to buy a new copy of windows I would assume you could use a friends 64-bit version along with your key to save the expense.

First, you can't upgrade from any 32-bit version of Windows to any 64-bit version. Instead, you must perform a full (also known as clean) install of the 64-bit version.

The good news is that you can likely use the same product key you have now with the 64-bit install media.
