Hi all, I'm a new member here and have several computers I've been given that I would like to build a game pc/ media box and or a cluster computer from. I don't need a monitor, I'll be using my tv, I have access to some older windows distros or can use linux or can make a hackintosh. I have numerous components lying around from other projects: several psu's, boards (all old), routers, drives, etc. All of the pc's are late '06 vintage. I may build a special box and or cooling unit as well and won't need to buy those items.
The five computers and one server are listed below with their respective service tags for specific specs:
Dell Inspiron 9200 st: bfp7rb1
Dell Inspiron 9200 st: ggyb2c1
Dell optiplex gx620 st: 8k850b1
Dell optiplex gx620 st: dk8sqb1
Dell dimension E521 st: g04g2c1
Server:
Dell poweredge 1800 st: j6kcnb1
Which components would you use from these to make the best game box? I can sell unused parts on eBay to finance buying needed components or software but would like to use as many of the parts I have on hand as possible. If you need a budget use less than $500. What would you build?
I hope this makes sense and that you have the needed information. Thank you in advance.
