Graphics Card Reccommendation

Hi, I'm a newbie gamer (late to the party at 35 years old) and am building a gaming pc. I've had THIS graphics card picked out for me by someone who knows more than I do about them. Has anyone used it and is it any good? I'm on a fairly tight budget and I probably won't be playing loads of the latest games, rather picking some good older titles from the last few years. Thanks in advance.

P.S. It'll be running alongside an AMD FX-6300 with 8gb of 1866mhz RAM.

It's not bad, but some of the newer ones like GTX 780 can do better, but since you're on a tight budget, that's not a bad choice.

the 650 is very solid card if you can get the 650 ti or even update the 7xx series i would say try for that. your gpu is not a bad idea to spend a pretty penny on.

this will be better (260x with 2GB RAM is always better than one with only 1GB, futureproofing your PC for a bit more time.)

Won't matter in most cases, once 1GB becomes a problem the GPU itself is already going to be too slow anyway.

1GB is fine with graphics cards.

If you could get the 650 ti boost in the same price point then it will be a very good deal.
650ti < 260x <650ti boost
(in pure pixel pushing performance IMO)

Thanks for all the replies. I think 'm going to hold off for a while and get a bit more cash together. I was looking at getting a cheap hd5450 (or similar) for the time being and save the rest. There's enough old games out there to keep me going - one of the benefits of being a noob. I've not even finished Farcry 1 yet!
