So I'm planning an upgrade and I'm having trouble deciding between these two cards:
ASUS Radeon R9 270 2GB DirectCU II OC
ASUS Radeon R9 270X 2GB DirectCU II TOP

I'm having trouble deciding because from what I've read the 270 only falls short by about 5fps compared to the 270x, plus overclocking seems to give equal or greater performance than the 270x(not overclocked). So i guess my question is iz the 270x worth the 30€ price increase, how hard is it to oc a 270 and if i can somehow screw up the overclock and ruin the card.

More about : 270x 270

get the r9 270. they are both slightly the same. but r9 270 has lower power consumption -> Less heat. abit lower memory clock which you can oc at the same performance or even better it will save you 30€. Btw the r9 270 you picked is already factory clocked by manufacture.

Overclock may void the warranty. Nice used cards are easily available if wanted.

The difference is not much. What monitor resolution and power supply do you have. Also what titles do you want to play.

The R9 270X is a much faster card and will perform better in the long run. The ASUS TOP editions are always factory overclocked with alloys designed to handle much better Overclocking abilities.

The R9 270 will perform pretty well for it's price range still, though it still is limited, even when overclocked to the same frequencies, hardware wise and will perform really close but would always be slightly under.

My suggestion is, get the 270X and you'll get a factory overclocked and safe card and it will perform much better.
And with ASUS's DirectCUII cooling, you can be assured that your heating will be just fine.

r9 270x much faster? its just a memory clock difference. at higher power consumption. as he said its only 5fps difference. you can easily clock the r9 270 to fit the r9 270x performance.
