Hi all, my pc is almost 5 years old, but it's still fast enough for everything I need, so I really don't want to upgrade, or re-install windows 7 Pro.

Yesterday it stopped working, when I press the power button, all the fans come on, but it doesn't beep and it doesn't boot. Tried unplugging the power, waiting, starting over, unplugged hard drives, same result. I think it's the motherboard but I'm not 100% sure, I guess it could be the power supply too, I just got a new one last year though Thermaltake 750w, cause for a while I was using more powerful video cards, but then didn't need them anymore so sold and went back to originals, but kept the PSU.

The motherboard is teh Asus P67, with Intel i7-920 processor I think that might be the first generation of the i7s but it's still pretty fast. 6GB if DDR3 rem.

Should I try to get an identical motherboard and replace it? I can't find any new, only used. Is there a new I could replace it with that would work and would not require a re-install?

Trying to minimize the parts I have to buy, but I also don't know how hard it is to put the processor onto another MB, so if I do get a newer MB CPU combo, would the rest of my stuff work, and is there still a way to not have to re-install OS?

Suggestions?

You can't find the new one anymore, to buy the used one that is the way to go if you have the limit budget. If you buy the new system you need the new CPU+MB, also you are better to reinstall the OS too, but you can reuse the RAM, storage, GPU, PSU, etc.
