Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: No, Assuming I can re-use the Windows 7 Disk I used on my current laptop.

Location: Toronto, Ontario

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Your Monitor Resolution: (e.g.: 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200 or if you're upgrading please state what you'd want to get)

Additional Comments:Any Ideas where I should purchase these parts? Online or should I visit a retailer? I'm completely new to this, so if I'm missing any parts or anything like that, please let me know. I'll be using Wi-Fi so I'll be needing a network card I think?

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Primarily building a new PC for gaming, as my current laptop is half a dozen years old so it has difficulty running virtually everything.

I'm yet to purchase anything, and I don't have any commitment to any of the parts I've listed. So if you have anything you'd suggest in its place, even up to a completely new build I'd be more than happy to hear it.

You should go with haswell or at least ivy bridge if you can.

Well if you will be installing OS and drivers trough USB, than no need for DVD/RW.
