Hello, I have some very basic questions about using this new Mac I got, to be my work computer with my music projects.

How does the "sleep" work with this, I don't seem to find any options about this like in Windows?
(Put to sleep when lid closes, etc)

Is there anyway to figure out that my computer is really sleeping, and isn't just running display off?

Should I shutdown daily?

Basically I need just some advice how to treat this 1,5k computer, so I don't shorten its lifespan for nothing with my noobness.

Solution
It will sleep when you close the lid, don't worry about battery it won't discharge, more then what a Li-Ion battery usually does over time, in the options you have the option to enable certain updates while lid is closed. ( its the one looking like a cog )

I presume you mean restart when you write shutdown, and I don't restart my MBPr15" more then once every month or when there is an update, I am no expert on this but I don't think that apple have the same buffer file/ram clutter and windows.

Just use it like you would any computer, buying any piece of gear and then spend all the time worrying about it is a waste of both time and money if you ask me.

When you close the lid it is actually shut all the way down, just these modern SSD...

I've never owned a Mac, but I do know that one thing advantageous about owning one is that they carry Apple Support. Google is your friend, but in this case, Apple Support is also. Good luck.

When you close the lid it is actually shut all the way down, just these modern SSD HDDs are very very fast when reading, which is kinda why they are so kewl.

Hope this helped a litre, else contact apple support, no matter what plan you're on you have at least 30 days of calling them with noob questions and they are usually really nice about helping.
