How to see my webcam?

I am currently using my laptop at university and I always have my home computer on. Unfortunately my family like to use my computer and i would just like to make sure nobody goes onto my computer as I have private information and work on their that my little brother might end up tampering with, so I am wandering if there is a way to connect to my webcam to monitor who comes into my room. I am not sure how this could be done so if you know any software i can use or if i can connect to it through my ip address?

  1. Couldn't you just password your system and use Windows Remote Desktop or another remote access solution?
  2. Or, you can just secure your information by setting your User accounts and then creating one just for them so they can use it while still protecting your data. Spying is never a good thing unless it's strictly for surveillance/security reasons and nothing else. And if you're trying to keep your porno collection from getting astray in your family hands, well get rid of it. Good luck!
  3. Just use desktop sharing software like teamviewer you will be able to see everything being done and if you don't like it you can log them off and leave teamviewer active.

    Don't be that guy.
  5. Unfortunately no because i need it on constantly as it is hosting my servers. And i don't want to use a remote connection as it wont be fast enough for my laptop.
  6. Remote desktop or teamviewer will be much less bandwidth than any video feed unless you set it to update only like once a minute

Exactly.... remote access apps are designed precisely for what you're looking to do. A webcam will be significantly slower, if anything.

Just password your user account and then use a remote access app like Windows' built in RDP (mstsc.exe).
