Hi ... I wasn't too sure where to post this so I decided the Video Games section would be pretty good. So here's my question ... I would like to run Diablo 3 in a shared Virtual Machine in VMWare Workstation 9/10 (full VMWare Workstation) so that my friend can play Diablo 3 with me on his laptop (his laptop can't run it). So i installed diablo 3 in the VM and can launch it and all but even after putting the graphics to the minimum, i get a terrible fps. The diablo 3 on my desktop has no problem whatsoever.

here are my system specs:
i7-4700MQ Processor
16GB RAM
240GB mSata SSD (both my diablo 3 and the VM with the diablo 3 are on the ssd)
GeForce GT750M SLI graphics cards

i gave the VM 2 processors with each 2 cores along with 4GB of RAM

I don't necessarily have a solution for you, but it would help if you stated what version of VMWare you are using and are you just running the VMWare Player or the full VMWare Workstation? I know earlier versions of VMWare (prior to version 5) did not support DirectX and it was even kind of iffy in version 5.

Overall, gaming in a VM is rarely a good idea.

oops forgot that! I'm running i believe VMWare workstation 9 or 10 and it's the full VMWare Workstation ... i'll try re-installing the VMWare tools and Direct X maybe.

i can run both diablo 3 clients (VMware one and the one on my desktop) and get crappy FPS in the VMware one while getting 60+ fps on the diablo 3 client that runs directly on my desktop on maxed out settings in 1080p. also worthy of mentioning , my laptop has no problem whatsoever running 6-7 windows VM's
