Hi, I bought a VTX3D AMD Radeon HD 7870 Tahiti LE about a year ago and its served me well so far but since day 1 ive had connectivity problems. The card has 2 mini display ports which i intended to connect 2 adapters to to get to my vga monitors. I bought some adapters off ebay and they worked for a while but then they started flickering and finally stopped working completely. I felt that the displayport mini cables were always loose so im trying to figure out a way to connect both vga monitors to my card. Ive read a little about connecting 2 vga ports to the dvi port on the card but i dont want to buy the wrong thing,. can anyone take a look at the card and advise me on what hardware i need to buy to connect it to the vga port please?
Thanks in advance

Hi thanks for your reply. Ive seen these before but im not 100% sure whether this will allow me to extend my display or whether it will simply duplicate it?

Look you cannot simply get the extension of the screen from a single slot. It is like that that a single slot can only give one screen it cannot give you 2 screen independently. Those cable divides the signal to go to 2 monitors that's it they cannot give the option of 2 screens which are not acting as same. If you have any other slot other than the VGA which i am sure your card will have just buy the adapter for that slot. So connect your 1 monitor with VGA slot of card and connect your other monitor with HDMI to VGA adapter or DVI to VGA adapter or Display port to VGA adapter. Hope you understood it.

that is why I ask. Like I mentioned in my original post I Have mini display ports one hdmi an one dvi. Hdmi to vga wont work because the monitors arent dhcp compliant. I have tried the adapters. I understand how these things work like I say I built the machine but my issue is the lack of vga support on the card. From my understanding the problem arises because displayport and hdmi are digital and vga is analog. Any idea how I can reliably connect my displays?
