Hi there long time lurker, first time poster. I have used this forum extensively to spec my system.

So I decided to build a new gaming rig and have assembled the following components:
Case: CM Storm Enforcer
CPU: i5 4670k
Mobo: MSI Z87-G45
RAM: 8G Corsair Vengeance LP
Cooler: V8 GTS
Drives: Sandisk 128G SSD + WD Black 1TB
VGA: MSI GTX780 TF
PSU: Seasonic fully modular 750W
ODD: LG 24X

I decided to load XP which I used on my retired desktop and have the OEM disk. I also have the Win 8 upgrade disk which I never got to use and hoped to upgrade XP to Win8 on the new rig instead of buying a new OS.

I disconnected the WD 1TB. On the first boot I got to the BIOS page with no problems. Set the boot drive to ODD and the SSD to priority1 for HDD. Then continued to boot up with the OEM XP disk in the ODD. XP started to load and after approx a minute resulted in a blue screen with an error message:

"A problem has occurred and win has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" .....and some other checks I need to do.

" Technical info: STOP: 0x00000007B ........and a long list of zero's and some random numbers.

Am I doing something wrong in the BIOS, or should I just ditch XP and buy a new OS.

Regards
Chrisn (my very first build)
