Hi, Long time stalker first time poster. So, I have been looking at how to over clock my CPU to 4.5ghz. Every time I adjust any settings my system becomes unstable. Cores fail after 2 tests and what not. I have bumped up my vcore to 1.5 just for testing purposes and i still fail. I looked at the guides at overclock.net and they don't seem to help me in my quest. Just looking for some insight to try to make my rig a little better. When I test with out over clocking, Prime and intelburn seem to work just fine.

Thanks every one.

Forgot my rig info

I'd be careful trying too much voltage on that board.

I'm not saying a OC isn't possible, but, really for a 8320 + you should be using a good 990 board. Don't set your voltage so high.

I'd set LLC to something like regular (I'm assuming that's a setting for that board), and keep the voltage very conservative for now.

Make sure to disable all power saving features while OC'ing. Start with something lower, like 4.2.

I noticed you have 4 sticks of ram. For a AM3+ it's best for stability to use 2 sticks. Set your ram to default (1333) while testing your OC. Don't expect to get more then 1600 on ram using 4 sticks.

Some info on oc'ing that CPU.

I was more just testing that voltage to see if it was my voltage keeping me from being stable. Ill pull out the sticks and just run on 8 gigs of ram and start testing. LLC is just on of off and auto on this board. Ill test this later tonight and see if it works stable at 4.2. Thanks.

I bottled necked myself with the mobo? if so DOH!

Well, I'd say that you want a beefier mobo for AMD 8 core especially if you're oc'ing. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's throttling you.

I had a 970 that gave me nothing but issues with my 8320, but works great with the fx 6300 I put in my ol'ladys system.

**With LLC, I've noticed it allows for a lower base voltage, since it attempts to apply enough voltage to keep your system steady. Also, it tends to end up with higher temps when stress testing, yet lower temps in day to day use. I'd try it set to on, keeping a very close eye on voltage, and temps while stress testing. Also, remember prime95 takes over a hour to hit its max temps. Make sure to watch it at least 2 hours before leaving it unattended.

cpu was at 4200, via ratio of 21 the bus was at 200. Cpu and Cpu/NB LLC was enabled. Manual voltage was changed to 1.375. C&C disabled as well as core C6. The frequency for HT link and CPU/NB are on auto
