Hello,
I've had for a while a 100Mbps fiber connection. The ISP's router package used to work fine (I'd get about 20-40 Mbps on wireless no problem at all times), but as of recently the wireless started to suck, a lot. By that I mean, if I do a speed test, by cable it gives me ~120Mbps, by wireless it gives 0 to 11 Mbps (after I was able to boost the performance a bit, it used to go up to 4). I'm using a D-Link DIR-300 router to do the wireless nowadays, serving as an access point to the ISP router by connecting the ISP router by LAN port to the D-Link router as WAN. It works better, but still won't get past the 11Mbps mark.

What should I do to fix this? It's insanely bad and I have been unable to have much success other than boosting it to 11Mbps and still have terribad speeds e.g., when doing a skype call or trying to play most games.

Thank you very much for your help.

The DIR-300 is a g router I believe with only a 10/100 line in, so might look to a N or dual N with Gbps in

the problem is that the ISP router still fails to give more than 6 Mbps on wireless N-mode (it does support that). Is there something else that might be causing this issue?

Have any of the settings changed, number of devices that access wireless?

I don't think so, we even tried doing a full reset on the router. didn't change a thing. This kind of router can be changed by my ISP remotely tho, so it might be a setting they did. But they refuse to acknowledge any issue on their side or on the router.

EDIT: In addition this started happening randomly without any particular reason about 2 months ago, but we're getting tired of having no results.

I forgot to mention that I have maximum signal on all my devices too, so it can't be a signal issue.

As a solution to this, it seems that after making sure the router was in wireless N mode (which it apparently decided to reset constantly, but now seems to be sticked to), only my desktop has connectivity issues, most probably due to its poor wireless adapter. I'll be buying a new adapter today. My other devices get ~30-50 Mbps, which is already very good.

I just installed it actually, and it works even worse than my previous adapter. I ended up simply using my Macbook as a ICS bridge to my Desktop since my macbook gets up to 70 Mbps
