Hi,
I'm looking to get a AGP card for my Pentium 4 based system. I have a 3.4 ghz Pentium 4, 2 gig of DDRI ram, and a 250 gig IDE harddisk. I'm looking to play Crysis and Crysis Warhead on this system (I know these games run pretty well on Pentium 4 as I've seen on YouTube).

Thank you, and please no 'build a new system' posts. I'm only interested in suggestions for AGP cards for the requirements I stated!

For decent cards for agp you will be fairly limited you could get something like a geforce 7800 AGP or a agp 3870 from radeon. They both are fairly decent cards but the 3870 bench marked better. Do you have a decent power supply for these cards?

I didn't see any videos with a p4 and 4670...not exactly a common cpu/gpu combo right now...

I know you didn't want advice on upgrading your pc but why not just get a micro atx motherboard, apu, and 4 gigs of ddr3? both of them will cost you around $110 for both if you get a simple dual core apu which will have better graphics than any AGP card I would assume. then you could get a couple of ide to sata converters. I know you want an agp card but the price to performance isn't really there. I just think that the money that you would spend on a card that is used, or that is new but has been kept in storage at a warehouse in who knows what condition. Like back in college my friend really wanted another 8800 for his system and he found one on amazon I think brand new. Now back in college the card was already out for like 3 or 4 years at that time. But the way the people stored the card was terrible it got exposed to a non climate controlled warehouse that I guess the company only used to store their really old stuff. But thanks to the way they stored it the card was dead in about 2 weeks. So you really have no way of telling how these older but still new components get stored and cared for over the years.

This is essentially a retro rig at this point so the best two despite the lacking driver support is the 3850 and 4670, for current support (limited) is a 7800 gs and a 7900 gt agp. All these cards are expensive for the return and is best to build a new system. For retro go here for Good help.
