Router to switches issues

I have a 10/100 n asus router connected to a 5 port unmanaged gigabit switch. I have successfully used all 5 ports on the switch except a weird issue is happening now. My last connection on the 5 port switch does not give signal. The other 4 connections are good and moving the working ones around ports work fine too. So, I believe all 5 ports work fine.

When that same cat6 cord which gets no signal off of the 5 port switch is connected to the router lan port directly, I get full signal.

I want all cables to start at the 5 port switch because it is gigabit. Now that one cat6 is 10/100.

That Cat6 goes to an 8 port unmanaged switch and that switch goes to a 5 port unmanaged switch. Those switches also appear to be working fine otherwise.

I have hooked that cat6 from 5 to 8 with nothing else connected and still get no signal.

Help, please. Makes no sense.

It is a little hard for me to picture what your talking about but it sounds like you have a bad cable. Gigabit uses all 4 pairs in a CAT6 cable but 100Mbit only uses 2 pairs. Thus the cable could possibly work for 100M bit when it would not work for Gigabit.

Thanks. This was an inexpensive 100ft pre-terminated cat 6 that will be a pain to replace. Have you heard of a situation where replacing the connectors fixed a situation like this? I guess it is possible that there are bad pairs elsewhere in the line.
