I recently built my first computer and it works great apart from this problem: I bought a new monitor because my old one was bad and I needed one with an HDMI connection for my GPU (AMD r9 270x) but the HDMI cord doesn't work on either the GPU my motherboard, but the VGA does work (I only have a VGA connection on my motherboard).
I know it's not the HDMI cable or the monitor because I've plugged my laptop into the monitor via HDMI and it works perfectly, so what could it be?
ANY help is appreciated!

Thanks for your help, I changed the BIOS and the GPU didn't run but what I failed to realise before is that the GPU needs 2 6 pin connectors and I was only using one 6 pin connector. Is this the reason why it isn't working? If so can I just buy a 6 pin splitter cable so I can connect to both slots?

I have a 430w corsair power supply, not sure what the exact model is though, AMD recommend 500w for the GPU but I've seen loads of videos on how much power computers really use and I think it's okay. I definitely don't have another 6 pin connector, but could I buy a molex to 6 pin connector?

Yeah I'm kinda new to this stuff so I didn't realise that I couldn't add the other two connectors...
And thanks Kevin for helping me, but just to clarify, should I buy a molex to 6 pin adapter or a 6 pin splitter cable?
Also, is the lack of power to my GPU my problem?

Sorry for the late reply, I'm in the UK so I can't buy what was in the link. I think I'll just go for a mole to 6 pin connector and see if that works; thanks for your help and I'll tell you if it works out.
