DVD drive not showing

Ok guys I am new here and I need some help

So, mid-2013, our power shut off from the upstairs and my pc shut down and when I turned on the computer I would get a blue screen of death.
So, my younger brother reconfigured the bios so that it would work again.... Problem is, is that now the DVD drive will not show on my pc, it works but it wont show on my computer. Will upload image.
And I need it to work again. Please help me.

OK, you say it works, but how do you know it works if it doesn't show up in Computer?

Do you mean it will open and close and the LED lights up? Because that just means it has power.

First I would check to make sure the SATA cable is plugged into the back of the drive and the other end is plugged into the motherboard.

If that turns out to be OK, then the SATA port on the motherboard could be disabled or configured incorrectly. Check the name of the port the DVD is plugged into (SATA 1, SATA 2 ect) and then go into the BIOS. Look at the configuration for that port and make sure it's enabled and make sure it's not set to AHCI or RAID. These labels could be different depending on the motherboard. It should be set to Auto or IDE.

Ok, it does have power and I know that it is plugged in because I swapped out the dvd drive for a different one, so I know that it is not the connections. I will go into the bios and say how it goes, thank you.

The DVD is an IDE...

I think the IDE port is controlled of of the GigaByte SATA 2 chip, not the native Intel Northbridge.

Go into your BIOS and make sure that Onboard SATA/IDE Device under Integrated Peripherals is set to Enabled. Then make sure that the Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode is set to IDE. This should get you running.

Let me know how you make out.

Sorry for not getting on this yesterday, it was a bit of a busy day, laundry day.

I cannot change it to IDE because I need my SSD to run because it has the windows files. Either way, I tried it anyway and gave me a grub error while loading, same when I changed it to RAID/IDE, so I left it at ACHI.

First thing Is do would be see if you can boot to the DVD/CD drive... That eliminates Windows as the cause if you can't boot to it, and point to Windows as the cause if you can boot to it.
