Right now I have 4 drives in my precision 650.2 iedes both 80gb and 2 scsi`s.Can I run a master and slave on the scsi drives and where can I find the diagram to show jumper placement? Is it possible to run all 4 drives as master drive and slaves or not?Im also trying to run master and slave on my ides and folled the jumper placement on the hard drives. What I get happening is neither hd will boot and get a message saying to press F1 to continue or only one drive will boot.Would I be better using cable select to do this or am I just plain doing it wrong?
Thanks

So if I understand your answer correctly I can only use 3 drives not 4?Can I run drive scsi drive 2 and 3 eides master and slave. With scsi missing the are drives 1-2 when the computer boots no device found 0-1.Then drive 2 eide will boot but 3 cant be switched slave.?

SCSI drives are not set to "Master" or "Slave." They are given an address of 0-7 (I believe some implementations allow 0-15). The lowest number has the highest priority and will become the boot device. Often this is the controller, which has been configured for how its attached drives are arranged (such as in a RAID).
The end devices on a SCSI cable must be terminated. This may be done with a dongle on a cable connector, or sometimes on the device itself with a resistor network (looks like a 14-pin DIP but is made up of resistors; not an IC).

Ok you are talking above my head here Im lost. Can the port configuration on the back of the drives that are on the moth board of the drive be configured to which order the drives boot in?I ask this because the 2 drives are set up with a diferent amount of port jumpers and the position is different on both of them.If you at the links where I first started a thread about these drives theres a pic that will show you what im trying to explain. The pic is of the second drive and uses 4 port jumper and the 1st drive only has 3 jumpers.Im not setup for raid yet but I don't want to that on this computer.I ust want to be able to boot to the 4 drives.

I think I did find see some info chaper 5 sec 4 but it doesn't show much.It doesn't actualy show the port jumper positions but it shows a small picture then says terminal something closed or open. These pins and jumpers on the port settings run vertical and horizontal.I have no idea how to position the jumpers for these settings.confused :(
