Hi people, this is my first post, so I hope that I am in right category. :)

So, as you can see from the subject, I want to install Windows XP on ASUS N750JV (Intel HM86 Chipset, i7-4700HQ proc, nVidia GeForce GT 750M, 16GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 6GB RAM). As this is new laptop, I am getting BSOD every time I try to install Win XP PRO SP3 (with included SATA drivers). In BIOS SATA configuration I choosed AHCI mode (with IDE mode I can install Windows XP), but can you please help me find AHCI driver wich I can integrate in Windows XP installation CD to install XP in AHCI mode?

ALso, I have Windows 8.1 on another partition, and I know how to fix boot of WIndows 8.1 after installing XP.

So my question is:
Is it possible to install Windows XP on this laptop in AHCI mode?

Many thanks.

You will have issues getting XP to work. For one thing XP is no longer supported so the odds of getting hacked are going to increase significantly, and for another driver support may be very limited.

Windows 8.1 is far, far better than XP.

*I'm assuming your issue is the new interface in Windows 8. Just get START8 from Stardock for $5 and you can COMPLETELY AVOID the new interface by:

a) changing settings in Start8 (right-click the restored Start Menu) such as no CHARMS BAR on the desktop

b) Boot to desktop (Google for how)

c) Avoid the LOGIN screen if desired (Google for how)

I have Windows 8.1 and with these changes I boot directly into the normal desktop and have a Start Menu that works, and never see the new W8 screen unless I wish (A link on the restored Start Menu).

*So again, not only would installing XP be a hassle, but it's not going to work as well. There is absolutely NO good reason to do this.

photonboy, thank you for your advice, but I need XP just to run 1 game (Call of duty 2) under XP. And that's all. As I have very bad expiriences running that game under Win 8.1

It works in Windows 8, though you may have to change the main EXE file so it runs as XP SP3 in compatibility mode, and/or run as Administrator.

I know I had it running fine but I forget what I did. I've also tested about 200 games and only had issues running three (and got them working).

Hello,
I'm consodering buying the same laptop on which I want to install only Win XP 32 bit since I make music and all my other pc's and programs are XP-based.
I wanted to ask WinXPFan following questions:
-What disadvantages will I experience when I install Win XP in IDE instead of AHCI?
-You have 6 GB RAM on your machine. I know it depends of the grafic card and Win XP will not recognize more than 3,5 GB.. how much RAM does your laptop see when Win XP 32 bit is running? One time I had a heavy grafic card and only 2 GB were available, I had to downgrade the bios etc. etc. it was pretty time consuming.
Thank you for your reply
