I have some bucks burning a hole in my mattress- wait, ew, that sounds gross, let's rephrase:

I have some extra cash saved and wanted to finally upgrade my PC, I was hoping to get some opinions on what GPU would be a significant upgrade to what I have.

I have a Radeon 7770HD and would like an Nvidia card. The 7770 works great, playing most of my stuff on High settings, but sometimes framerate does drop uncomfortably during intense/flashy scenes/battles. I also want those sweet, sweet sparklies from PhysX lol

Also wouldn't mind getting a new motherboard, the one I have always causes the computer to restart every few seconds whenever I use more than 1 stick of RAM :(

Anyway, I'm aiming for a $150ish budget for the new card, but I can splurge a little more. At worst, I wouldn't mind selling my system and just building a new one.

Current system:
Motherboard - ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Intel H77:

GPU - Radeon 7770HD:

PSU - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 650W

CPU - Intel Core i3-3220 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W

RAM - Patriot 8GB (2 x 4GB) Model PVI38G160C9K

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Solution
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT

If you're selling your 7770, then get a GTX760. THATS the true badassitude compared to both graphics cards.

And you can't Crossfire an NVidia card, like you can't SLI a AMD card.

Man, you have no idea how many holes I've had to dig just to scrounge this cash up lol

Thanks for the suggestion, is that 750Ti going to melt my face with its badassitude, or is it only slightly better than the 7770?

The 750 TI generally benchmarks about 50% better than the HD 7770. If you sell your HD 7770 on eBay, that could also give you an extra $50 to work with. You have an i3 with integrated video, so although you wouldn't be playing any games in the mean time, you'd still be able to use your PC until you got a new $200 video card.

Spiffy, thanks folks. I guess I can sell my 7770 now... or combine it with the 750Ti and create some kind of unholy dual-brand transformer thing!?

Lol, is that possible? Hooking up two different brand GPUs to get MOAR POWAH I mean.

I'm going with a GTX760, found a new EVGA version for $170 which is alright I guess. I'm wondering though, are all the EVGA versions superclocked? Or is there a non-overclocked version? And could I just superclock it myself if it is a non-overclocked version?

$170 dollars for a GTX 760 is extremely cheap, and an EVGA super clocked edition no less. They do sell non overclocked versions but they perform slightly less and yes you can overclock it.

Cool, the one the guy is selling is the non-OC version because the box doesn't have the "SC" label. But if I can just OC it to make it work as well as the SC version then I think I'll bite on the deal lol

$170 for a 760 really is possibly the best deal in PC gaming. Normally they go for $250.

Sweet, I guess I can buy a new motherboard with the money I'll save, or at least pay someone to fix the constant rebooting-at-startup-RAM problem lol

Just came back to say thanks a ton folks! Made the deal and got a brand spanking new GTX760, that was a nice bonus since I thought it was used lol. The kid also had a brand new 750ti and a non-ACX 760 for cheap, I hope someone got those great deals.
