Hello guys this is my first post and I hope I can get some help.

I am on a $350 budget and I want to upgrade my cpu, motherboard, and ram to make my computer better for 3d modeling/rendering (hobby). I currently have a Phenom ii x4 945 and 4 gigs of ram, with an am2+/am3 motherboard. This is what I am considering:

Upgrade 1
CPU - AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Memory - G.Skill Ares Series 8GB 1600
This comes up to $242.27 from Newegg

Concerning this arrangement would it be worth it to purchase 16 gb instead of 8 gb or should I instead purchase an Fx-8320? Which would be the biggest performance increase?

Ooor.. Is this arrangement better for my 3d modeling/rendering needs?

Upgrade 2
CPU - Intel Core i5-4670 Haswell 3.4GHz
Motherboard - MSI H81M-P33 LGA 1150
Memory - G.Skill Ares Series 8GB 1600
Which comes up to $332.97 from Newegg

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me. I also apologize if I have posted in the wrong section.

Solution
or a 4slotted B85 ^^

though the OP has enough budget for H87 with 8GB RAM no trouble.

something like either of these would work out nicely: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($184.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock B85M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($59.50 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $308.47
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I know it's $18 over budget but it has the rendering speeds similar(95%-100%) of an i7 4770.

CPU - AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-core: $124.99
Mobo - ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+: $99.49
Memory - AData XPG V1.0 16gb (2x8gb) DDR3-1600: $129.99
Total: $354.47
Went $4 over your budget, but the mobo has 2 extra RAM slots for future upgrades and the parts are pretty good :3
All this is on NewEgg except the memory which is on TigerDirect.com
