Hi to all im new and i would like to ask about a problem

I am an IT in a hotel and recently i built a new computer for a bar pos. The hotel use a dos program as well as a VAT software wich both connect to a central server with mapped network drives the new pc use an integrated lan nic Realtek 8105E and the problem is that the apps dont see network drives until i double click on each of the network drives after that both software see the server networkes drives I replaced the nic car with an old 3com pci nic from an old computer and all seems to work like a charm and i cant anderstand what the problem is why the realteck needs to double click on the drives for the software to see the network drives and the old 3com pci software see the drives without having to double click on the drives in the my computer widows

I installed the realteck nic drivers from the cd and dowloaded the latest from the internet and i have the same isue with this nic card. thanx

the pos is a workgroup the os is xp for both the server and the pos(because the software works on dos cmd to be able to have fulscreen on dos). their are mapped from xp like the restaurant pos that works with an old p4 computer the internet on the pos work normaly as well as file transfering over network the only problem is that the dos software dont see the mapped network drive automaticaly until i double click on it every time i shutdown or restart the pc and works with an old 3com lan card. thanx

Are both machines XP Pro or Home, and are the fully updated. It is odd it seems like with the integrated one the NIC is delayed in getting either a connection or IP address resulting in the network drives not connecting. But with the external one everything seems to work fine. Have you tried to uninstall the onboard nic from the device manager, and then reboot and install the onboard nic??

both machines have xp pro both nic card are installed in the pos (only that the onboard is not connected because i hooked the pci nic card) and use static ip ol the computers use static diffrent ips the onboard work if i use internet or use it from the windows file explorer only that the dos program dont see it until i go to the widows explorer and double click on it and exit the explorer after that the dos program see the network drives normally until i reboot the computer

I can't remember where it's at, but in the group policy editor there is a place that reads "Wait for network at startup and login". Set it to true.

If you cant find it, add this text to a .reg file and double click it. it's the entry that gets set when you do the above in the group policy editor.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"SyncForegroundPolicy"=dword:00000001
