Ugh ASRock 970 Extreme4 no post no bios no dr debug

Ok so I have two mining rigs with similar components. Both of them use ASRock 970 Extreme4 Mobos with Corsair AX1200 power supplies. I added a 4th GPU to the first rig no problem. I just tried adding a 4th GPU to the second rig and when I tried to boot it up, nothing happened. I then removed the 4th GPU and tried to boot it up and got the GPU fans and CPU fan to turn on but that's about it. It wouldn't post and the dr debug code didn't even display. The reset button also didn't work. The only thing that worked were the fans and the power button switch. I'm not quite sure why it won't boot up now :(

Not sure what the next step is...did the 4th gpu fry my mobo / psu? I don't think it would be my psu because then I wouldn't think the fans would turn on (but I could be wrong?).

This might take you a while but since you have identical parts what I would do is think of some system to keep track of which components went to which computer. After that swap everything but the drives and the power supply to the other motherboard and see what happens. If it powers on that might just mean that you shorted out your motherboard. now take that power supply and use it on the other board. It might take you a good hour or two but I am pretty sure that doing this won't cause any harm as long as you don't use the power supply on the bad system with the good system. So what this will isolate is if it is a power supply issue, ram issue, or a motherboard issue.

Tried swapping some stuff out and got the same result. So if I shorted out my mobo is that all she wrote on it? Time for a new one? No way to bring this puppy back to life?

I actually need to head to bed so i won't be able to respond for a while. But to be honest I think it is either your motherboard or your power supply. Just take your board and look for anything that looks like burn marks. Also smell your power supply that is right smell it see if it has an odd smell to it like a sulfur smell almost. You can also take the battery out of the motherboard while it is unplugged for about 1 minute and then put the battery back into the motherboard. You can also try unplugging the power cord and then hitting the power switch or what ever way that you have been powering it up. This will drain any remaining charge in the capacitors. Then what you can do is plug the power cord back in and try to start the system again. Try getting the system to power on with nothing more than the motherboard the processor, the heat sink, a single stick of ram, and the power supply installed. If that doesn't work take out all of the ram but one stick, after that take out that stick and insert the next one if i still won't boot and so on.

It's not the power supply. Quite positive it's the mobo. I put the power supply from the "good rig" on it and it did the same thing. I didn't see any burn marks or anything. I tried the battery thing as well. Think I'm going to have to order a new mobo :(

Yeah, I built a mining rig one time for fun using some 7950's from my shop. Worked pretty nice but it really beats up the motherboard to have it full blast all the time. So I would probably buy another motherboard then. Are you just doing the normal single core AMD Sempron? I know that is what I used
