which is better radeon hd8990 6gb or the gtx780 6gb

I am planning on getting a new computer from Dell and was not sure which one of the above is the better one they both have dual cards

Well the 8990 is just dells or alienwares rebranded HD 7990 which is a dual GPU card, while the 780 is a single GPU setup, you'd have to SLI the 780 to really compare the two. So if you can afford the 7990 get it, otherwise SLI the 780 it will perform better, but obviously use a bit more power.
