Hi,
Can anyone recommend a safe place to download the md5 checksum software.
That's suitable for Windows 7 ?

I found the main one from MS but it doesn't say that it's suitable for Windows 7.
And the others I've found: I don't know if the supplier is safe !

Thanks

I use HashOnClick by 2brightsparks. The free version has MD5, SHA1, and CRC32. If you pay, they'll give you a pile of extras.

Thanks for the link:
However their 'Freeware Version' is not free, but at best, a sneaky 30 day trial version !
And you only find that out after you've downloaded & installed it !
Very Bad !

Thanks

Really? Fairly sure it's not trialware.

Some of the other software is (Syncback (except free), FindOnClick, and a few others), but I'm pretty sure the OnClick stuff is shareware.

I've just installed HashOnClick on a machine that doesn't have their key on it, and it's definitely not saying anything about a 30-day trial. Are you sure you didn't grab the FindOnClick file?

Try downloading a fresh copy from their website now !

After clicking their link in the right pane: 'Freeware Version'
The file I downloaded was: HashOnClick_Setup.exe

After install: This places 1 prominent link in the short-list of the Program-Manager (OnClick Licence Manager)
(More sub-links are available if you select 'All Programs' but non suggest that they will open the program)

So: Clicking 'OnClick Licence Manager' opens a registration window, where you have 3 options, ie: a) Buy (b) Help (c) 30 day Evaluation.

I did, literally five minutes before posting that comment.

The OnClick license manager, I believe, will only cut off the utilities that are marked as being 30-day trials.

You do not even need to start the trial to run the software.

I'll try setting the clock forward by a month or two, though.

EDIT: It's not a standalone program, it puts a new option into the context menu. If you right-click a file, select 'Calculate Hash Value', then select the type of hash, it will hash it. Even if you haven't started the trial.

This is what I see when I click its [Help] button: http://
and its first image is basically what I see when I click the 'OnClick license manager' link.

Yes, but you can hash without activating it. Only a couple of the utilities use the trial; the only thing entering a code will do for Hash on click is turn on SHA2 and a couple of other more exotic algorithms.

Duuurrr, thanks Someone Somewhere.

Your quite right, you JUST have to right-click the file, that you want to do the checksum on !
I was expecting a program window to open.

It would have been helpful if they had made that clear in their info !
I wonder how many have mistakenly-registered ?

Many thanks for your help.
