Different RAM speed

I have two 1066 modules and two 1333 modules. Everything runs fine EXCEPT a game I play ( second life) where the whole system freezes after 5 minutes. Could the different speeds be the culprit?

Not at all, the difference in ram speeds wont effect anything because if they are in dual channel mode (which they are) then it should automatically put both speeds to 1066MHz so that wouldn't effect performance at all.
Sounds more a cpu issue to me.
Monitor the CPU's usage on task manager whilst play the game.

all four ram modules of yours are runnig at 1066mhz and since they actually do run, they are ok. if there would be a ram problem it would probably result in blue screen or not ever post!to make sure, you can run a test http://www.memtest.org/ . please state you full specs though since it could easily be another issue!

thanks for your quick response.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz (DELL XPS 430)
RAM: DDR3 8 gigs 2 x 2 gigs 1066 and 2 x 2 gigs1333
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7700
O/S Windows & Pro 64 bit

Second Life , the game, will run with 4 gigs but not with 8

Memtest showed no errors
Task Manager at time of crash CPU 37% Memory 2.99 gigs

in that case the cpu doesn't seem to be the culprit then.
Your components may be overheating...
what cooling are you using at the moment?
or one of the sticks of ram may be faulty.
Try putting two stick in at a time.
(in slot 1 and slot 3)
And try and identify which one could be failing.

full specs include psu!what is it.? also 7750 differs from 7770 since the later would require additional 6pin power cable and about 20A from the 12v rail of your psu!also make sure that temps are within acceptable limits under 65c for cpu and under 85c for gpu

I tried installing different memory in different banks. Had some crashes so now running with known goo0d memory. Windows programs not affected

CPU 1 : 47C
CPU 2 : 37C
CPU 3 : 41C
CPU 4 : 38C

GPU core 33C - 47C in second life

Radeon 7770

psu I can't read but its a tower

Hi. The PSU is the Power Supply. That is the thing that all of the cables cvcome from. Should be a label on the side ( you will need to remove the cover of course ). Need to know the overall Wattage of the PSU. The other thing would be the Amps on the +12v Rail ( just look for something that says +12v and make note of the amps. It will read something like +12v 20a or whatever it is for that PSU.
